At Hood River U-Pick Organic, we grow organic cherries, honeycrisp and gala apples, and heirloom and cherry tomatoes! We may have a few vegetables and eggs this year as well. It is a family farm and a way to teach the values of hard work and healthy food. It is my passion.
Hood River U-Pick Organic is certified organic by Oregon Tilth. It is a wonderful farm to visit in the Gorge for a beautiful day of picking your own fruit and petting the cute goats and pigs. It’s fun to hang with the chickens too. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. We have picnic tables and Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the orchard. Kids Love it here. It’s very family-friendly and a happy place to be!
A little history of how we started our family farm. Established in 2008, Hood River U-Pick Organic came about as a means to pay for the maintenance of our cherry trees. As a child, my Grandpa Keith Middleton had a U-Pick Strawberry Farm near Detroit, Michigan. He also grew raspberries too! But he grew pumpkins for his grandchildren to sell. So every year he would bring a big truck of pumpkins up north for me and my siblings to sell. It was always so much fun!
I figured, if my grandpa could have a U-Pick business, so could I, and it worked! I love it. And I love my customers. Everyone is so happy and grateful for what we do. We keep expanding what we grow because growing healthy organic food is a beautiful thing for everyone!
